In the pursuit of a safer educational environment for the LGBTI community, UNFE believes pre- and in-service teacher training are important agents of change.
The noble duty of a teacher has always been to deliver knowledge, and Comprehensive Sexuality Education is no exception. With their power and kindness, teachers can lay the foundation for a safer school, where differences are respected, not eliminated. This is the foothold for students to understand, respect, love, and take pride in kindness.
Let's take a look back at 2022 UNFE event - Take Pride in Kindness, took place in the University of Education, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-UEd). A successful and memorable event with the participation of representatives, teachers, and students of the VNU-UEd, representatives of the UN in Viet Nam and its UN agencies, LGBTIQ+ community-based organizations (Hanoi Queer, VENUS Social Enterprise Community, Finding a Self through Life Writing Project), and adolescents and young people interested in the UNFE campaign.
Our journey to a safer educational environment for all students is long-running and can be tough at times. But if we take pride in our power and act with kindness, we can move towards a future where all students feel safe and loved, regardless of gender, sexuality, or background. So let's take pride in our kindness and join UNFE in creating safer schools for all!
