Consultancy for Translation of Interview Transcripts

VACANCY NOTICE

1. Background:

Established in 1951, The International Organization for Migration (IOM), the lead United Nations agency on Migration, delivers and promotes comprehensive, preventive and curative migrant health programmes which are beneficial, accessible, and equitable for migrants and mobile populations. IOM Mission in Viet Nam implements migration health activities to enhance the Vietnamese government's capacity to promote and support local community responses for addressing migration health-related challenges.

2. IOM Project to which the Consultancy is contributing:

Access to accurate health information and healthcare for overseas Vietnamese labour migrants during COVID-19 pandemic.

3. Tasks to be performed under this contract:

IOM in partnership with the General Office for Population and Family Planning, of the Ministry of Health, Department of Overseas Labour of the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is conducting a study titled “Access to accurate health information and healthcare for overseas Vietnamese labour migrants during COVID-19 pandemic.”The research team is currently interviewing Vietnamese migrants living in destination countries and returnees came back from the destination countries to assess migrants’ challenges in access to accurate information and health care during COVID-19 pandemic.

The consultant will be responsible for conducting the following assignments:

• To translate the transcripts of 110 to 120 interviews from Vietnamese to English
• To respond to all comments provided by IOM;
• Sign the contract and send the invoice to the Organization after the completion of the assignment.

4. Delivery dates:

​The transcription services will be from 28 June 2021 to 30 August 2021. The duty station will be home-based. The quality of interview transcripts will be checked by the IOM.

5. Required qualifications and experience

The Consultant should meet the below requirements:

• Fluency in Vietnamese and English;
• Understanding of migration and public health issues;
• Public health background is preferable;
• Possessing an undergraduate or post-graduate degree in an English speaking country is preferable;
• Proven ability to produce quality work to set deadlines
• Team-work oriented but with a capacity to work independently.
• Good communication skills.

6. Related costs for the consultancy

The number of pages will be around 770 to 1,200 pages (350 words per page). The maximum unit cost will be 10 USD per page.
