“Community space design contest, for an exciting Ha Noi” The final round

  • Ha Noi, 24 Novermber 2017 - The Final Round of “Community Space Design Contest, for an Exciting Ha Noi” will take place at 2:00PM – 5:30PM on Saturday, November 25th at Conference room C1-C2, Green One UN House, 304 Kim Ma Street, Ba Dinh District, Ha Noi with the present of Hoan Kiem District People’s Committe, UN-Habitat Viet Nam, the Organizers, the specialists in the field of architecture and social activities, the contestants, the people of Trang Tien and Hang Ma Wards, and the community.

“Community Space Design Contest, for an Exciting Ha Noi!”

Aiming to address the current situation of wasting and inappropriate usage of public space in Ha Noi, Hoan Kiem People’s Committee and the United Nations Human Settlements in Viet Nam (UN-Habitat) have organized the “Community Space Design Contest, for an Exciting Ha Noi” and chose Center of Live & Learn for Environment and Community as the direct implementing partner. Main purpose of the contest is to seek for creative solutions on public space innovation for Hoan Kiem Lake areas, with focus on the 2 main streets of Dinh Le – Nguyen Xi and Phung Hung.

“Community Space Design Contest, for an Exciting Ha Noi” is a platform for the youth and the community to realize their creative space innovation ideas, bringing art and culture to the residential areas in different ways, and transforming the public spaces in Ha Noi. With our belief: “The community’s participation in the city construction and development will ensure high social sustainability, equality and inclusiveness”, we look forward to the participation and support of the whole community.

“Community Space Design Contest, for an Exciting Ha Noi” – The Final Round

After a month launching the contest, the Organizers have chosen 11 best teams from more than 50 high-quality applications of the students and community organization. In the Final Round, the contestants will have a chance to present their ideas in front of the Judges using Minecraft platform.

Members of the Jury Panel:

  • Mr. Pham Tuan Long – Vice Chairman of Hoan Kiem District People’s Commitee, Ha Noi
  • Mr. Nguyen Quang – Habitat Programme Manager of UN-Habitat Viet Nam
  • Mr. Tran Ngoc Chinh – Chairman of Viet Nam Urban Planning and Development Association (VUPDA).
  • Mr. Le Quan – Rector of Ha Noi Architecture University
  • Ms. Do Van Nguyet – Managing Director of Live & Learn Center for Environment and Community
  • Mr. Steve Schutt –Director of Hansen Landscapes, Australia
  • Mr. Doan Ky Thanh – Architect and Journalist
  • Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Nhung – Chief Communications Officer of Ford Viet Nam

The most excellent and feasible ideas will be evaluated, scored, peer reviewed, commented and awarded after the Final round.

Through the final round, we look forward to find the best and most feasible ideas to implement on Phung Hung and Dinh Le – Nguyen Xi streets, which can contribute to the positive transformation of Ha Noi public spaces, and Hoan Kiem District public spaces in particular. In this process, the specialists, architects, urban and public space researchers will support the policy makers, ultimately resulting in innovative, feasible and humane solutions.

We hope that with the support of the media and communication partners, this Final round of the “Community space design Contest, for an exciting Ha Noi” will be able to withdraw the attention and participation of the whole community.
