Ha Noi, 04 September 2015 – Viet Nam's Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) 2014 launched today in Ha Noi, highlights an unfinished agenda in the lives and well-being of vulnerable children and women while capturing some of the country's progress toward achievement of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The MICS survey was carried out by the General Statistics Office (GSO) in close collaboration with various line ministries and with technical and financial support from UNICEF.
Hanoi, from August 3rd to 5th, 2015 – For the first time, UN Women in collaboration with Viet Nam Volunteer Center, Youth Union (VVC) organized a training course to raise awareness on gender equality and to increase skills in advocating campaigns for ending violence against women and girls (VAWG) through social networks. The training course took place in Hanoi in three days gathering 32 youth leaders of volunteer clubs, teams and groups from Northern, Middle and Southern regions of Vietnam.
Vienna, 30 July 2015– Each year millions of women, men and children are trafficked for profit. They are sexually exploited, made to undertake demanding and often dangerous work in homes, farms and factories across the globe, and find themselves victims of one of the many other forms of abuse such as forced marriage or organ removal. Yet despite the wide-spread recognition that this is one of today's most exploitative crimes, action is lacking: more needs to be done to dismantle the organized criminal networks behind this, while at the same time it is critical that assistance to victims be stepped up.
