NEW YORK/HA NOI, 6 September 2018– Half of students aged 13 to 15 worldwide – around 150 million – report having experienced peer-to-peer violence in and around school, according to a new report released by UNICEF today.
Ha Noi, 23 August, 2018 – UNICEF and the French Embassy in Viet Nam have signed an agreement to officialize their collaboration to improve international adoption standards in Viet Nam. The two-year project will help to strengthen the legal and policy framework on adoption. It will also support a pilot project in two provinces on intercountry adoption in compliance with the international standards defined in the 1993 Hague Adoption Convention. Finally the project will help build capacity of agencies and organizations working on adoption, including on monitoring and supervision through training on alternative care and adoption processes and procedures.
Hanoi, 24th August 2018 – Today, the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) in collaboration with the United Nations in Viet Nam and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ)(*) co-organised a Workshop on the "Dissemination of Viet Nam's Voluntary National Review presented at High Level Political Forum 2018". The workshop was co-chaired by Dr. Pham Hoang Mai, Director General of the Department of Science, Education, Natural Resources and Environment, MPI, Ms. Akiko Fujii, Co-chair of the UN Programme Management Team in Viet Nam, and Dr. Michael Krakowski, Director cum Chief Technical Advisor of the Macroeconomic Reforms/ Green Growth Programme, GIZ. The workshop attracted the participation of representatives from ministries, government agencies, UN agencies, embassies, business community, media, acamedia, NGOs and other international development agencies in Vietnam.
Ninh Binh, Viet Nam, 13-17 August 2018 - Industrial policymakers from several Vietnamese Ministries attended a one-week training course on methodological tools for carrying out evidence-based analysis of sector competitiveness. The course considered different perspectives, including production, export, value addition, potential for spill-over effects over total economy, productivity and social factors related to employment, market dynamics, and competitors' performance.

Hai Phong, 31 July 2018 - A one-and-a-half day workshop to share and exchange experiences and knowledge on e-teaching and learning development for health was held in Do Son district, Hai Phong on 31 July 2018. The workshop marked the completion of the pilot phase with 28 healthcare subjects available on Hai Phong Medical University website portal, each with audio, video and digital presentations, under two main courses specifically tailored to pre- and in-service training for medical students, doctors, nurses and health practitioners. Electronic lessons cover a variety of topics such as primary coastal healthcare, non-communicable diseases (NCDs), clinical immunology, primary pediatrics and etc.
NEW YORK/GENEVA/HANOI, 1 August 2018 – Globally, an estimated 78 million babies – or three in five – are not breastfed within the first hour of life, putting them at higher risk of death and disease and making them less likely to continue breastfeeding, say UNICEF and WHO in a new report. Most of these babies are born in low- and middle-income countries.
