Joint Press Statement: WHO and UNICEF call on Vietnamese authorities to enforce food fortification regulations
  • Ha Noi, 7 June, 2018: WHO and UNICEF call on the Government of Viet Nam and State agencies to implement the Government Decree 09/2016/ND-CP that mandates the fortification of salt, wheat flour and vegetable oil and the use of fortified salt and wheat flour by the food industry. The issuance of the decree was based on strong evidence that the country needs to step up actions to address severe micronutrient deficiencies among the Vietnamese population. The decree is in line with global recommendations on this highly cost-effective strategy to prevent and control micronutrient deficiency and it highlights the Government's commitment to improve the health of its population.

Joint effort by international partners in combating plastic pollution in Viet Nam
  • Hanoi, June 4, 2018 - Over time, plastic waste slowly degrades and breaks down into smaller pieces called micro-plastics, which usually end up in the oceans and from there, potentially enters into the food chain. Forty-one embassies and international organisations will mark World Environment Day by signing a Code of Conduct on Combatting Plastic Pollution at L'Espace, 24 Trang Tien at 9:00am.

Capacity building on Industry 4.0 for Policymakers from Viet Nam
  • Ha Noi, Viet Nam, 5 June 2018 - The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), in collaboration with the Industry Agency at the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) of Viet Nam, organized a one-day executive seminar on Industry 4.0. It is followed by a three-day workshop.
