WHO#010: An academic organization to conduct a review on the integration of non-communicable diseases NCDs interventions into maternal and child health services MCH
Background
Recently, the Russian Federation government is providing financial support through WHO to four countries, including Kyrgyzstant, Tajikistant, Mongolia and Viet Nam, to help countries develop best practices and lessons learned on improving maternal and paediatrics quality of care. The initiative incorporates quality of care interventions and health systems strengthening in order to improve the entire spectrum of maternal, newborn and child health care and services in four selected countries.
The Project includes an Assessment and M&E Component in 4 project provinces Ha Giang, Thanh Hoa, Daklak and Soc Trang, aims at monitoring the implementation and giving timely technical recommendations for improvement, and documenting the impact of the demonstration intervention on the Quality of maternal, newborn and child health care. This component, according to the concept note drafted and agree among parties, will document the different domains of quality of care as for the WHO framework (i.e. provision of care, experience of care, availability of resources). 1,2 This work is under strategic priorities No2 of WHO MOH project document this biennium 2024-2025 “Improve the primary health care system, as a foundation of UHC, towards the goal of delivering of integrated, people-centered, quality essential health services, reaching the unreached and strengthening the impact of disease/condition-specific programmes”.
The component Assessment and M&E requires 4 rounds of assessment and M&E. Last year, round 1 was completed for all 4 provinces and round 2 was conducted in Ha Giang only.
In addition, after going to the field work, project team (WHO, MCH) decided that the component of M&E of this work should be strengthened to provide better support for quality improvement. So clinical observations and coaching at the field will be included in the remaining rounds of assessment and M&E.
Objectives of the activity
To provide technical support to the WHO Viet Nam Country Office in conducting a review on the integration of non-communicable diseases NCDs interventions into maternal and child health services MCH as one component of the project “Improving the Quality of Hospital Care to Reduce Maternal Newborn and Child Deaths and Accelerate the Achievement of the SDG Health Targets”
