HA NOI, 19 December 2017 – A new collaboration on providing UNFPA's support for the General Statistics Office (GSO) and other partners at national and sub-national levels in providing and utilizing quality population and development data and evidence to develop and monitor socio-economic development policies, strategies and plans, and Sustainable Development Goals in Viet Nam in the period 2017-2021 was signed today at an official ceremony in Ha Noi attended by representatives of Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), GSO, the Parliamentary Committee for Social Affairs (PCSA), Viet Nam's Fatherland Front Central Committee (VFF), Central Committee on Popularization and Education (CCPE), other line ministries, research institutes, the United Nations agencies, and development partners in Viet Nam.
HA NOI, 15 December 2017 – A new project on providing capacity support for government officials at national and sub-national levels in the development and implementation of evidence and human rights-based policies and programmes on prevention and response to Gender-Based Violence (GBV)/ Domestic Violence (DV) and addressing sex-work related issues was signed today at an official ceremony in Ha Noi attended by representatives of Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA), Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST), Viet Nam Farmers' Union (VFU), other line ministries, representatives from provinces, social organizations, the United Nations agencies and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Viet Nam.
Ha Noi, Viet Nam – On December 14th 2017, UNICEF and the Ministry of Health co-hosted a national consultative workshop on Mobile Integrated Early Childhood Development (MIECD) - a modern innovative mobile technology initiative, which will not only strategically address the unfinished agenda of the Millennium Development Goals but will also track and monitor the implementation of Integrated Early Childhood Development (IECD) project 2017-2021. The half-day first-ever workshop of its kind attracted the participation of 120 representatives from line ministries, provinces, NGOs, and development partners.

Ha Noi, 09 December 2017 – The United Nations Children’s Fund in Viet Nam and the Government of Viet Nam today launch a national communication campaign to raise awareness and promote public advocacy on child road safety to accelerate the efforts on preventing child and adolescent deaths and injuries due to road traffic accidents as the second leading cause of child fatalities in the country.
HO CHI MINH CITY (VIET NAM), 30 November 2017 – UNICEF and eleven factories in the footwear and apparel sector in Viet Nam have launched today the “Children’s Rights in the Workplace Programme for Footwear and Apparel Manufacturers” to look specifically at improving the wellbeing of children, working parents, and young workers. The programme was launched during an event co-hosted by UNICEF and Vietnam Chambers of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) on “Sustainable Business for Children: Promoting Children’s Rights in the Footwear and Apparel Sector”. As part of the initial activities, factories will undergo awareness raising sessions on the 12 identified impact areas. UNICEF will also roll out the awareness raising campaign 60 minutes working as a mum that was developed in partnership with iCare Benefits and the Purpose Group to increase awareness on breastfeeding in workplace among workers and to encourage management to introduce policies to support breastfeeding workers.
Ha Noi, 28 November 2017 – Following the devastating impact of Typhoon Damrey in Viet Nam, the United Nations (UN) has approved an additional allocation of US$ 4.21 million from the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) to provide life-saving assistance to 150,000 people, including 46,973 children, in six affected provinces.
