5 April, 2019, Hanoi, Vietnam – The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Citi Foundation, with the collaboration and support from the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Viet Nam Volunteer Center, opened the second Asia Pacific Youth Co:Lab Summit, in Hanoi today. The flagship event brings together over 500 delegates, including hundreds of youth, partners and government officials from 20 countries, to exchange ideas, knowledge and experiences, to influence policy initiatives on youth entrepreneurship and social innovation.
Ha Noi, 2 April 2019 – The 2018 PAPI Report, released today, reveals general improvement in provincial and local government performance, with citizens reporting less corruption in health care and education, greater satisfaction with most basic public services, and more interactions with local officials. Scores also rose for processing of construction permits and personal documents. However, the results show no progress in levels of bribery for obtaining land use rights certificates, or in diversion of public funds by officials, and more than half of the respondents said water quality in their locality had worsened over the past three years.

Quang Binh province, 19 March 2019 – A ceremony was held today in Quang Ninh district, Quang Binh province to hand over mine action equipment to the Viet Nam Mine Action Centre (VNMAC). It included almost 200 detectors, which will be used for the 'Korea-Viet Nam Mine Action Project'. The official handover was done by the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Viet Nam, His Excellency Mr. Do-Hyon Kim, to VNMAC Deputy Director General, Mr Nguyen Hanh Phuc, in the presence of the Country Director of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Viet Nam, Mr. Jinoh Kim and the Resident Representative a.i. of the UN Development Programme (UNDP) in Viet Nam, Ms. Caitlin Wiesen.

Hanoi 7th March 2019 – In commemoration of International Women's Day, today, United Nations in Viet Nam and The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affair co-organized a policy dialogue on gender equality with the theme "Improve social protection and public services to increase women's participation in the labor force". The dialogue supports the theme of this year International Women's Day: "Think equal, build smart, innovate for change", which focuses on innovative ways in which we can advance gender equality and the empowerment of women, particularly in the areas of social protection systems, access to public services and sustainable infrastructure.
Twenty years ago, Hanoi was awarded the UNESCO City for Peace prize. As we celebrate International Women's Day, now is a good time to look at what a peaceful city means today, in particular for women and girls, and at the many initiatives under way to ensure safety, inclusion and access for all.
