Ha Noi, 3 March 2017 – In commemoration of International Women’s Day, the United Nations in Viet Nam together with the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) held today a policy event on “Women in the Changing World of Work”. The event brought together more than 100 participants, including the Minister of MOLISA, representatives from ministries, National Assembly, socio-political organizations, the UN in Viet Nam, bilateral and multilateral donors, as well as NGOs and the media. The event emphasized the importance of women’s economic empowerment in the changing world of work, this is also the global topic that the UN and country members choose for 2017.

Ha Noi, 14 February 2017 – Education planners and managers (13 female and 4 male) enrolled in Viet Nam’s National Institute of Education Management (NIEM) increased their awareness and capacity in educational planning and management, with a focus on gender mainstreaming and girls’ and women’s education. The training, developed based on identified challenges and training needs of NIEM’s officers and trainers, provincial and district education managers, also provided guidance on policy and programme development to support girls’ and women’s education at local levels.
Ha Noi, 12 January 2017 - The Green Growth Coordination Meeting - Reporting on the implementation of the Viet Nam Green Growth Strategy (2012-2016) was held by the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) with support from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the UN Development Programme (UNDP). The meeting was attended by representatives from Government agencies and ministries, selected provinces/cities and international development agencies in Viet Nam.

Ha Noi 10 January 2017 – “For the first 30kWh per month, a minimal price should be set for all electricity users per month and cash transfer should be eliminated”, recommends a policy discussion paper launched today by the Centre for Analysis and Forecasting of Viet Nam Academy of Social Sciences (CAF/VASS) in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme in Viet Nam (UNDP) and the British Embassy in Ha Noi.
