Ha Noi, 16 November 2015 - The award ceremony of the writing competition "My grandparents and I" launched by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and HelpAge International was organised at the Green One UN House in Ha Noi. Contestants in the writing competition were students from Ha Noi - Amsterdam School, Phan Dinh Phung School, British Vietnamese International School and the United Nations International School. The competition, launched on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of International Day of Older Persons and the Month of Action for Older People 2015, aims to not only change the social norms and stereotypes about older persons, but also to inform young Vietnamese to be more aware of the realities of an ageing society and to express their love and respect to their grandparents and older persons.

Ha Noi, 20th October 2015 – UN Women in collaboration with Viet Nam Communist Youth Union, National Volunteer Center (VVC) organized an event "Stepping Forward: Men commit to Gender Equality" in commemoration of Viet Nam Women's Day 2015. The event bought together over 1,000 participants, including high-level male leaders from Ministry of Labour-Invalid and Social Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Chair of Party Committee on People's Mobilization, other ministries, ambassadors, the UN in Viet Nam, bilateral and multilateral donors, NGOs, the media and students who pledged to support effort toward substantive gender equality in Viet Nam.
HA NOI, 17 October 2015 – The imbalance of the Sex Ratio at Birth (SRB) is an increasing concern in some Asian countries, where about 117 million women and girls are reported as "missing". In Viet Nam, the SRB rose from 106.2 boys per 100 girls in 2000 to 112.2 boys per 100 girls in 2014, and it is expected that this sharp trend continues. The current SRB in 53 out of 63 provinces and cities is 108 boys per 100 girls - this is an alarming level.
