Ha Noi, September 30th, 2021 – Essential equipment worth VND 483 million (USD 21,200) has been donated to the Vietnamese organization Peace House, for their helplines and shelters for survivors of human trafficking and violence against women. The donation, funded under the UN Women-UNODC joint programme on Enhancing Women’s Role in Law Enforcement and Border Security to Prevent Trafficking in Person and Transnational Crimes was ceremonially handed over by UN Women last week.

Ho Chi Minh City 19 October 2021 - The International Organization for Migration (IOM), Mission in Viet Nam, today has launched a qualitative research “Vulnerabilities and Risks of Exploitation Encountered by Vietnamese Migrant Workers”. The report analyzes the experiences of Vietnamese returnee migrant workers during recruitment, employment and return, and examines specific vulnerabilities and risks of exploitation.  

Ha Noi, 26 October 2021- UN Women and the Australian Embassy in collaboration with ADB and ILO today launched the flagship report, the “Viet Nam Country Gender Equality Profile.” Through concrete evidence and data measured against key socio-economic indicators, the report demonstrates the progress Viet Nam has made towards gender equality and puts forth actionable recommendations on how to address remaining barriers with the goal of fulfilling the country’s gender equality-related targets under the Sustainable Development Goals.

Ha Noi (Viet Nam), 6 November 2021 ­– The United Nations (UN) in Viet Nam – in coordination with the University of Education, Viet Nam National University (VNU-UEd) and Viet Nam Network of Young Key Affected Population (VYKAP) – today held a dynamic, multistakeholder webinar showcasing efforts of the VNU-UEd and LGBTIQ+ NGOs to build safer learning environments for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ+) students. Entitled “For Safer Schools for LGBTIQ+ People,” the hybrid event is the culmination of the 2021 UN Free & Equal Campaign. It is the center-piece of an awareness-raising social media campaign #StandwithPRIDE #viTUHAO_HANHDONGnao launched in mid-October, which seeks to show educators their power to build inclusive societies through teaching comprehensive sexuality education and celebrating inclusion and diversity.
