Ha Noi, 21 March 2018 -The majority of victims of sexual assault in Thailand and Viet Nam face serious challenges in obtaining justice, and this is in part due to discriminatory attitudes and practices which discouraged, dismissed and disempowered them at every step in the justice process; from the initial reporting to trial, a new United Nations study has found.
NEW YORK - Hanoi, 9 March 2018 – The prevalence of child marriage is decreasing globally with several countries seeing significant reductions in recent years, UNICEF said today. Overall, the proportion of women who were married as children decreased by 15 per cent in the last decade, from 1 in 4 to approximately 1 in 5.

Ha Noi, 8th March 2018 – In commemoration of International Women's Day, the United Nations in Viet Nam together with Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) and the Viet Nam National Committee for the Advancement of Women held a policy event on "Empowering Rural Women for Vietnam's Sustainable Development" in Ha Noi. The event brought together about 100 participants, including leaders and officials from ministries, governmental agencies, representatives from more than 20 cities and provinces, socio-political organizations, the UN in Viet Nam, bilateral and multilateral donors, as well as NGOs and the media. The policy dialogue focuses on the current situation of rural women in terms of living conditions, work, employment and social security in Vietnam's process of achieving Sustainable Development Goals and realizing international commitments to promote gender equality and women's empowerment. While raising awareness of such situation among participants, the event also aims to promote the contribution of rural women in Vietnam's social development.
Ha Noi, 6th March 2018 – An introductory session for elected officials on Integrated Early Childhood Development (IECD) has been held today by the National Assembly’s Committee for Culture, Education, Youth and Children in partnership with the Ministry of Labour Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) and UNICEF to increase awareness of National Assembly Members on the importance of IECD and obtain their commitment to promote IECD in the work of elected bodies.

Quang Ngai, 13 February 2018 – The Viet Nam Disaster Management Authority (VNDMA), Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have handed over storm-resilient houses to households in the province of Quang Ngai. Thirty-seven houses have been built so far, with more than 300 houses to be built in 2018.
Ha Noi, 6 February 2018 - Mental health and psychosocial problems are widespread and increasing in Viet Nam, particularly among children and young people and despite some progress the service environment and response for Viet Nam remains largely inadequate, says a new study released today by UNICEF, MOLISA and ODI. The lack of mental health services is particularly acute in remote provinces and is unable to prevent suicide and treat mental health disorders, which are often at the heart of suicidal ideation and attempts.
