WHO#001: Two national consultants to revise and update the National Guidelines on Reproductive Healthcare Services focusing on Newborn care
Background
The International Conference on Population and Development held in Cairo in 1994, with the participation of over 180 countries worldwide, including Vietnam, agreed on a comprehensive approach to Reproductive health care. Following the conference, Vietnam implemented its commitments through a series of measures to enhance the quality and diversify types of Reproductive healthcare services to meet the needs of the people and reduce maternal and child mortality rates.
In the implementation process of providing Reproductive healthcare services, standardizing specialized activities is a particularly emphasized issue to improve the quality of Reproductive health services and minimize possible errors in clinical practice. To meet this requirement, the Ministry of Health issued the "National Guidelines on Reproductive Healthcare Services" in 2001 and carried out subsequent updates and revisions in 2009 and 2016.
The National Guidelines on Reproductive Healthcare Services issued in 2016 cover 10 sections and apply to all healthcare facilities, including public and private healthcare, especially at the grassroots level. These guidelines are specialized instructions for the provision of Reproductive Healthcare Services, acting as a guidebook for healthcare professionals and considered a good reference for developing training materials, implementing monitoring activities, and assessing the quality of Reproductive Healthcare Services at healthcare facilities.
However, after many years of implementing the National Guidelines on Reproductive Healthcare Services, many significant scientific and technological advancements have been applied in maternal and child health areas. Many regulations in the national guidelines are no longer suitable for reality and require supplementation and modification.
Therefore, the Ministry of Health requests WHO support for reviewing and updating the National Guidelines on Reproductive Healthcare Services in 2016, focusing on Newborn Care.
The WHO Representative Office in Vietnam is seeking 02 consultants to review and update the National Guidelines on Reproductive Healthcare Services in 2016, with a focus on Newborn Care.
