The ongoing drought, water shortage and saltwater intrusion in the Mekong Delta region have so far affected 165,000 households and 29,000 ha of agriculture land across several provinces and are exposing a high number of vulnerable people in the Mekong Delta region to water shortage risk.
The Government and partners are implementing actions to address needs and to avoid severe impacts which could unfold during the peak of the dry season.
In addition, as gaps have been reported in household water storage and people’s basic understanding and awareness, national and international actors are supporting households with improved water storage systems and with communications campaigns on Water Sanitation Hygiene (WASH), Food Security, Agriculture, Health and Nutrition, Education, Gender and Protection.
